The Gulls had gone into half time 2-0 up thanks to two goals from George Cocklin. However, the visitors rallied in the second half to lead 3-2 after 53 minutes, with the West Herts striker scoring a six minute hattrick.
A minute later Myron Hamilton equalised for Canvey, earning his side a point in a match that could have easily gone either way.
