Canvey Island recorded their first ever victory at Crown Meadow on Tuesday evening, comfortably winning 3-0 against Lowestoft Town in the Ryman Premier League.

The result was the perfect response to Saturday's 6-0 drubbing away to Folkestone Invicta, with Canvey scoring three times and keeping only their second league clean sheet of the season.

Manager Danny Heale included a new face in his starting XI in the shape of 26-year-old winger Junior Luke who joined from Billericay Town ahead of the game.

The Gulls took the lead just before half time when some good work in midfield found George Sykes. The forward showed good strength to out-muscle a defender before threading the ball through to Omarr Lawson to score.

Sykes turned from provider to scorer on 67 minutes, beating the offside trap before finishing with an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

The three points were secured on 89 minutes when Canvey hit the Trawlerboys on the counter attack as they threw bodies forward, with George Sykes on hand to score his second of the evening and ninth of the season.
