Canvey Island are saddened to learn of the death of former chairman George Frost, who passed away over the weekend after a short illness. He was 69 years old.

A hugely popular figure at the club, George took over the role of chairman in 2009 after the board voted him in to succeed the outgoing Dennis Rugg. George's company, Frost Financial Services, were the already main sponsor of the club from 2006.

In his tenure, he oversaw the establishment of a successful academy and helped lay the foundations for the development of a new clubhouse, with the club also winning the Essex Senior Cup in 2012 in his time there.
George oversaw his role as chairman until 2014, though continued to invest heavily in the club, with Park Lane known as the 'Frost Financial Stadium' for the years he remained lead sponsor.

He and his wife Pauline retired to Lanzerote, where he passed away at home. His funeral is to be held there this coming Friday.

We offer our deepest condolences to Pauline and all of George's family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all at Canvey Island Football Club.
