Canvey Island begin kick off their 23/24 Season in the Isthmian Premier League on Saturday afternoon as they play host to Haringey Borough at the Moviestarr Stadium.

The Opposition
Haringey Borough will prove stern opposition on the opening day, as manager Tom Loizou looks to improve on the clubs 15th place finish last season.
The Borough have retained much of last season's squad, with new additions such as Dexter Peter and Arthur Lontton bolstering their ranks. They've enjoyed a productive pre-season at home, notching wins against AFC Sudbury and Harrow Borough. They rounded off their preparations as they drew 2-2 with Isthmian North side Walthamstow at the weekend.
This will be our 7th meeting with Haringey in all competitions. Our last meeting on Valentine's day saw the Gulls take three points in North London with a 2-1 win. Charlie Edwards and Bradley Sach were our goalscorers on the evening.
The Gulls
Canvey have been hard at work in a busy pre-season schedule, as Brad Wellmen and Sammy Knott have looked to mould their squad for the upcoming season, blending several trailists with the first team.
Much of last season's squad has been retained, with exciting new additions joining in the form of defenders Louie Arrowsmith and Lordon Akilbire, along with midfield talents Luke Deslandes, Kwesi Ntim and Philip Brown.
We finished saw out our pre-season calendar on Tuesday evening as we played host to West Ham United U21s. The team gave a good account of themselves against last season's FA Youth Cup winners, only to fall to a 2-0 defeat late in the game. Despite the results, there were of positives to take, with Canvey looking fit and ready to head into the new season.
