Canvey Island make the short hop over to Pitsea on Saturday, as they take on Hashtag United in the Isthmian League Premier.

Our Opponents
The Tags are playing their first ever season at Step 3 of the non league pyramid, and have made a good start to life a level up so far following their title winning Isthmian North campaign last year. They currently sit just behind the Gulls in 8th, having played a game more, and whilst they've only picked up 5 wins, they are the league's draw specialists, with 7 to their name thus far.
They got one of those draw on Saturday away at Cheshunt, with the score finishing 1-1 in Hertfordshire. It was a case of 2 points dropped in this instance however, with the Tags leading before they were pegged back midway through the 2nd half.
Long serving manager Jay Devereux, who had guided the club to 3 promotions so far, is certainly not without the talent to compete at this level, and is able to call experienced Isthmian League names such as Max Cornhill and Alex Teniola, up and coming talent such as Matthew Woodbridge and Sakaryia Hassan, and even boast a former football league regular in Greg Halford amongst their numbers.
Our last competitive meeting with the Tags came back in last seasons Essex Senior Cup, where the two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the 3rd Round, with Charlie Edwards getting the goal for Canvey before we progressed on penalties.
The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, have hit their own stride of form in recent games, with their last outing on Tuesday being an impressive 3-2 win over one of the league early pace setters Chatham Town.
Bradley Sach (x2) and Conor Hubble got the all important goals on the night to win an entertaining match. They'll be looking to make it 3 league wins from 3 to keep in pursuit of the playoff pack, in a tight table where every point is valuable.

Yellow Army, you helped make the difference on Tuesday night, and whilst it may not have been our biggest league crowd of the season, you certainly made yourselves heard throughout the game.
As the calendar year winds down and much of the attention and revenue of many goes towards the upcoming holiday season, we thank each and every one of you turning out to back the boys at this time. With this just a short hop away for many, we hope to see you in numbers again on Saturday.
We wish all travelling a safe journey over to Pitsea.
