Canvey Island continue their search for points in a hectic January as they journey to North London on Saturday, for a showdown with Haringey Borough.

Our Opponents
Borough have endured a tough season since our initial meeting on the opening day, with the club mired in the relegation zone for much of the last few months. They are currently second bottom after 22 league games and 10 points from safety.
Their handy 4G surface at Coles Park has also meant that they've played a few more games than the fellow safety chasers, meaning they will be desperate for points to mount a climb as 2024 kicks in. This will be their first game of the year as their 'A10 Derby' away at Enfield Town fell victim to the bad weather on New Years Day. Before that, they fell to a damaging 6-0 drubbing at home to Carshalton Athletic on December 30th.
Despite their struggles, manager Tom Loizou has the talent at his disposal to mount a revival, with long serving players like Scott Mitchell and Jorge Djassi-Sambu good servents to the club, and attacking talent like Kasim Aidoo and Matthew Young not shy of goals - the later having 12 goals to his name already this season.
Our last meeting on the opening day produced quite the thriller, with our visitors leading 2-0 after just 11 minutes, before a second half comeback saw the Gulls win the game 3-2, with Mason Hall, Bradley Sach and Evans Kouassi all getting on the scoresheet on a humid August afternoon at the Moviestarr Stadium.
The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, will be looking to build on recent positive results, as they left a tough December behind with a 1-0 win over Concord Rangers on New Years Day.
Sam Higgins grabbed his first goal since signing on permanently last month to claim the local bragging rights in the Island Derby, and manager Brad Wellmen will be hoping his side can build on their dogged display to secure some much needed points to climb the table.

Yellow Army, we were incredibly grateful to see so many of you in attendance on New Years Day, and you cheered the team on to a much needed victory as we rung in the New Year together.
With this month throwing up a busy, two game a week schedule, the team would be grateful for the special support you give them, whether that be at home or on the road.
We wish all attending a safe journey to North London.
