Canvey Island begin the first of three huge league fixtures against teams in the top four on Saturday, as they travel to the Bauvil Stadium for the first time to play Chatham Town.

Our Opponents
The Chats are enjoying a fantastic season so far in their first bout at Step 3 of the Non League Pyramid, currently sitting in 2nd place after 25 games and still very much in the title race with just over 3 months of the season to go.
Like the Gulls, they saw their match at the weekend postponed at Wingate & Finchley due to a frozen pitch. They've been on good form prior to that however, with 3 wins and a draw in their last 5 league outings, the most recent of those a 3-2 victory at home to Cheshunt.
Owner-come-manager Kevin Hake has built the foundations for the club to progress further at the impressive Bauvil Stadium, with the club attracting talented names such as Jamie Yila and Alex Brefo to play for them, alongside experienced names like Danny Kedwell and Chris Dickson, among others.
A familiar name to the Gulls in Ashley Nzala also graces their ranks, having turned out for the Gulls in the later part of last season. In Canvey's ranks, Jack Munns also began his season with the Chats before making the move to Essex in November.
The two clubs met for the first time competitively back in November at the Moviestarr Stadium, with Canvey winning an entertaining fixture 3-2.
A brace from Bradley Sach as well as a Conor Hubble goal was enough for the three points on the night.
The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, will be hoping to build on a good run of form to start 2024, as they made it 3 wins from 4 on Tuesday night, defeating Folkestone Invicta 2-1 at the Moviestarr Stadium.
Bradley Sach and Charlie Edwards got the goals on a night where high winds held sway over the play. The three points move us up to 11th, just a point shy of the top 10, and with 2 games in hand over some of the sides above.
