Canvey Island will be looking to start a challenging February with a win, when they host Enfield Town on Saturday at the Moviestarr Stadium.
Our Opponents
The Towners are currently enjoying a great season, on the hunt for promotion, with the club currently sitting 5th in the standings and in the playoff places at the time of writing.
January hasn't been kind to their form however, with the club piclkng up just 6 points from their last 5 matches. Their last win came back on January 9th, with a 1-0 win at home to Haringey Borough in the A10 derby. Their last game in the league was on Tuesday evening, where they suffered a 2-1 reverse at home at the hands of fellow playoff chasers Billericay Town.
Manager Gavin MacPherson certainly has the talent at his disposal to turn his sides form around however, with players like Marcus Wyllie and Reece Beckles-Richards not shy of goals up front all season, and newer faces like Jonathan Hippolyte and Dylan Adjei-Hersey already making their presence known in the team.
We've already played the Towners once this season, with the game at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium finishing 3-0 to our hosts, with goals from Sam Youngs (x2) and Reece Beckles-Richards doing the damage.
The Gulls with victorious on two occasions here against Enfield last season though, putting five past them in the FA Cup before adding another three in the league last February.
The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, will be hoping to put an awful week behind them as they move into an action packed February.
A depleted Gulls side suffered a damaging 5-1 defeat on the road at Chatham Town last Saturday, with Jamie Salmon's first half goal merely a consolation against the promotion chasers.
Worse was to follow in the week, as Canvey crashed out of the Essex Senior Cup at the 4th Round stage, after a 2-1 defeat away at Essex Senior League side Buckhurst Hill. Despite an own goal halving the arrears, the Gulls couldn't force an equaliser, meaning their hopes of silverware were dashed for another season.
Brad Wellmen will be looking for a response from his team, and hope that recent good home form will make itself known again in this big encounter.

Yellow Army, your support this last week hasn't gone unnoticed, and we can only thank you for keeping up the noise after a difficult time on the pitch.
Much like the squad though, we know you don't give up, and we'll need that tenacity again as we move into a crucial month in the story of our season.
See you all on Saturday.
