Canvey Island are back on the road this weekend as they travel down to Margate for another Isthmian League Premier match.

Our Opponents
The Gate have endured a difficult season so far, with the club currently propping up the relegation zone in 19th at the time of writing. Whilst they are only a point behind 18th placed Cheshunt, they have played two games more than their fellow basement battlers - and have also played six more than the team directly behind them, Concord Rangers!
Form has deserted them of late, with the team only picking up a single point from their last six matches, that being in a 1-1 draw with the aforementioned Concord Rangers. Their last match came on Saturday, where despite a valiant effort, they went down 2-1 away at high flying Chatham Town. A potential relegation six-pointer was also put on ice on Tuesday as like ourselves, they saw the recent bad weather force their game at Cheshunt to be postponed.
Experienced Isthmian manager Mark Stimson was brought in to steady the ship in December, replacing then manager Reece Prestedge. Despite their league position though, he has the squad capable of making the great escape, with experienced Isthmian League names throughout the squad. Players like Tyrone Sterling and Dominic Vose look to boss the midfield while the talismanic Ben Greenhalgh isn't shy of goals up front.
Our last meeting with Margate cams back in September, as goals across the park from Rob Girdlestone, Bradley Sach, Sam Mvemba and Elliott Ronto saw up pick up a convincing 4-1 win at the Moviestarr Stadium.
The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, banished their own blues last weekend, returning to winning ways in a hotly contested Essex Derby with Billericay Town at the Moviestarr Stadium.
Goals from Sam Higgins (x2) and Tobi Tinubu saw them win the game 3-0 in a much improved performance, helping them secure a league double against their old rivals for the first time since 2014.
Their search for momentum was stunted somewhat in the week however, with a game at home against Lewes once against falling victim to a weather related postponement.

Yellow Army, we thank you all for your incredible support at home last Saturday. You are always the key in those big games, and we hope our 12th man enjoyed that victory as much as everyone in the squad did - even if we all did get thoroughly soaked in the process!
We know you also shine on the road though, and with a 'beano down to Margate' on offer, we know the Yellow Army will be out in numbers again for this one.
We wish you all a safe journey down to Margate.
