Canvey Island will be looking to bounce straight back on Tuesday evening as they welcome Hashtag United to the Steves Taxi's Stadium for a first home game of the 24/25 season.
Our Opponents
The Tags enjoyed a good maiden season in the Isthmian League Premier, finishing a respectable 13th in the 23/24 season. Fuelled by their strong social media presence - the foundation of the club - they'll look to expand their horizons further this year. Their move to groundshare at Aveley this season only looks to solidify their ambitions, and under the stewardship of manager Jay Devereux, they'll look to continue their charge up the divisions.
Like ourselves however, their campaign didn't get off to the best start on Saturday afternoon, with the Tags going down 2-0 at their new home to Cray Wanderers.
Their squad certainly has the capability to bounce back though, with quality throughout. Experienced Isthmian League stalwarts like Jack Giddens and Darren Foxley have recent title winning experience, while exciting talents like Sakariya Hassan and Misha Djemaili give them an edge.
The two sides met in the division last season, with the Tags winning at home on a freezing cold December afternoon, before the two sides played out a draw at Park Lane later in the campaign. Elliott Johnson and Bradley Sach were the Canvey goalscorers that afternoon.
The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from opening day defeat, after they lost 2-1 away at newly promoted Chichester City.
Despite taking the lead early in the game through Conor Hubble, a second half collapse saw the hosts turn the game on it's head, with the Gulls unable to find an equaliser to take at least a point back to Essex.
Their home record against the Tags is a good one though - if somewhat brief - with the Gulls undefeated there against Tuesday's opponents.
