Canvey Island are back on the road this weekend, as they make the long journey south to take on Bognor Regis Town in the Isthmian League Premier.

Our Opponents
The Rocks come into this campaign on the back of a solid, 10th place finish in the 23/24 season, with manager Robbie Blake propping up many young talents within the academy and the local area into their ranks.

They've had an indifferent start to the season however, with the club sitting in 18th at the time if writing, just a point and a place above the Gulls. They've also been knocked out of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy at the hands of Isthmian League South East opposition, leaving just the Sussex Senior Cup as their last chance at knockout silverware.

Their last league game, also like the Gulls, was on Tuesday night, where despite a spirited performance, they fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Dover Athletic. Whilst their travels have been ongoing and difficult in recent weeks, recent home form has seen them beat Cray Wanderers and Wingate & Finchley respectively in September.

Former Burnley player Robbie Blake is now into his 5th season managing the Rocks, and his squad includes a plethora of local talent. Players like Matt Burgess and Spencer Spurway are academy products of local EFL Championship side Portsmouth, while Dan Gifford is a cult hero leading the line up front. On Tuesday evening, they handed a starting debut to 16 year old Toby Kingswell - showing the great faith they have in their academy graduates.

The two clubs met twice in the league last season, with the Rocks getting a 3-1 win at Park Lane in the August, before the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Nyewood Lane in late December - Jamie Salmon the Canvey goalscorer that day.

The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, will be hoping to put another 3 points on the board on Saturday, after they were made to settle for just the 1 at home to Cray Valley PM following a crazy 4-4 draw.

A brace from Jaxon Brown, alongside goals for Chris Harris and Conor Hubble, were enough to warrant the point, though the Gulls will have been disappointed to let a 2 goal lead slip in the 2nd half, despite multiple chances off the woodwork and wide of target to win the game.

A big boost for Brad Wellmen's side on Tuesday was the return of last year's Player Of The Season, Bradley Sach, with the striker making an impact off the bench after rejoining the club from Chatham Town.
