Canvey Island will look to extend their recent good league form on Saturday afternoon, as they host Folkestone Invicta in the Isthmian League Premier.

Our Opponents

Invicta have been a staple name in the Isthmian Premier since their return in the 16-17 season, having proven a strern opposition for many on their visits to Cheriton Road. They finished 16th in the division last season, though with recent investment being put back into the first team, coupled with a strong supporter base, they are one of the hotly tipped favourites for promotion going into the 24/25 season - or at least a finish above recently relegated rivals Dover Athletic would suit them!

Their best laid plans perhaps haven't come to fruition as of yet however, with the club sitting in 13th place at the time of writing and out of the FA Cup, though still in the FA Trophy after a demolition job in the 3rd Qualifying Round at home to Ascot United. Their last result was a 1-1 draw at home to Hashtag United last Saturday in the league.

On paper, they boast one of the league's more impressive lineups. Former football league names like Gavin Hoyte and Matthias Fanimo lineup alongside non league stalwarts such as Khale Da Coasta, Jonathan Henly and Tom Derry, among others. And of course, among their ranks is former Canvey favourite Evans Kouassi, who made over 100 appearances for the club over 4 seasons, cementing himself as a fan favourite at Park Lane.

The two clubs met twice in the league last season, with Canvey winning 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Bradley Sach and Charlie Edwards, before losing 1-0 in Kent later in the season.

The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, picked up their 3rd win in 5 games in all competitions last Saturday, with a hard fought 2-1 win away at Bognor Regis Town in the Isthmian League Premier.

Second half goals from Chris Harris and Finlay Dorrell secured another needed three points to help the Gulls climb out of the drop zone. It was their 4th win in 5 games on the road - something they'll be hoping to translate into home league form, with a succession of matches at the Steves Taxis Stadium approaching.

Parking
Parking at the Steves Taxi's Stadium is free to all but limited to first come / first serve. Additional parking can be found on the adjacent side roads, but please be mindful of our neighbours if using this option. Parking on Park Lane itself is also strongly advised against.
