Canvey Island will look to strengthen their position in the top 10 of the Isthmian League Premier on Saturday, as they welcome Chichester City to the Steves Taxis Stadium.
Our Opponents
The Lillywhites are a new face in the division this season, following on from their playoff winning campaign in the Isthmian League South East last season. Playing out of the Oaklands Park home, they've taken to the league like a duck to water so far, proving they aren't here to make up the numbers.
Their solid start to the 24/25 season see's them sitting 12th in the table at the time of writing, with four wins and two draws in their opening 11 matches. They come into this game on the back of a convincing win away at Southern League South outfit Plymouth Parkway in the Isuzu FA Trophy 1st Round last Saturday, with a 4-0 win in Devon earning them a local derby with National League South side Worthing in the next round. Their last league outing wasn't so successful however, as they were defeated 2-1 at Bowers & Pitsea the Saturday prior.
Manager Miles Rutherford has kept faith in the core of his squad that won him promotion, and they are repaying his faith with solid performances. Industrious players like Emmett Dunn and Joe Moore provide steel in defence, the pace of Mo Jammeh is a headache for any back four, and in Jimmy Wild they have a goalscorer already in double figures, with 12 goals in all competitions.
The two sides have already met once this season on the opening day, with the Gulls falling to a 2-1 defeat on a hot afternoon in West Sussex after Conor Hubble had initially given them the lead.
The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, have been improving in form of late, and recorded their 4th away league win in a row on Tuesday evening as they beat Cheshunt 1-0.
A single goal from Elliott Ronto decided the contest, with Canvey looking to steer their recent form into a busy November, that see's them play no less than 7 times across the league and county cup.
