Match Preview

Nicholas Wright1 Apr - 12:08

On Saturday the Gulls are back in West Sussex to tackle promotion chasing Horsham. Always a tough game Canvey will have to be at their best to get anything from this match.

Our Opponents
Hornets Manager Dom Di Paola has been quoted as saying that at this stage of the season it’s not about pretty football, it’s all about grinding out results and picking up points. This is what Horsham have been doing in recent weeks. They can still take the automatic promotion slot but look secure in the play off positions.

The Gulls
Two battling draws keep the Gulls 8 points clear of the relegation zone with Dulwich Hamlet now firmly in the relegation dogfight. Canvey would be delighted to take anything from this game before we return to the Steve’s Taxis Stadium for another battle with fellow strugglers Hastings United.

Coaches
Visiting Teams are asked to inform the Club in advance if the team is travelling by coach so that space can be allocated in the Stadium Car Park. Supporters Coaches are asked to drop their passengers in Horsham Park & Ride RH13 0AR which is a short walk from the ground.
By Rail
Horsham Railway Station is served by frequent trains from London, Gatwick, Crawley and the South Coast. There are up to five Metrobus services an hour to the Stadium from Bus Stop L (see information above).
Arriving by car
Where possible, supporters travelling by car should arrange to share with others.
Parking in the Stadium Car Park will be limited on matchdays to Players, Match Officials, Home and Visiting Club Officials and Invited Guests. There are a small number of reserved spaces for drivers displaying Blue Parking Badges which are subject to availability and must be booked through the Club office in advance.
Supporters should park in Horsham Park & Ride, Worthing Road, RH13 0AR. There is no charge for parking here and stewards will be on hand to give directions to the ground which is approximately a 200 metre walk away. Whilst we strive to accommodate all supporters in this car park or close by demand can outstrip supply when a large crowd is in attendance. If there is insufficient room it may be necessary to park in the Town Centre and catch a bus or walk to the ground. The stewards will be able to offer advice in these circumstances.
Supporters are advised to arrive as early as possible to ensure that they have access to a parking space and allow sufficient time to enter the stadium.
There is strictly NO MATCHDAY PARKING in Worthing Road, Denne Park, Salisbury Road, Horsham Golf & Fitness or the access lane to the Stadium.
Pedestrians & Cyclists
The Stadium is located approximately twenty minutes’ walk from the Town Centre. However the route follows the busy Worthing Road which has only a narrow footpath with unprotected crossing points. Pedestrians are advised to travel by bus where possible.
There are cycle racks at the Stadium, with further racks adjacent to Horsham Bus Station. There are also cross-country cycle routes from Horsham and Southwater but these are unlit and suitable only for use in daylight. Once again, cyclists are advised to leave their bikes at Horsham Bus Station and complete their journeys by bus
