Canvey Island enter the Emirates FA Cup this weekend as they play host to Isthmian League North side Lowestoft Town in the 1st Qualifying Round.

The Opposition
The Trawelerboys have had a good first month in the Isthmian League North, currently undefeated after their first three games. They come into this game after a 2-1 away win at Gorleston on Bank Holiday Monday.
They reached this stage of the competition by comprehensively beating Corby Town 4-0 away from home. Manager Jamie Godbold has plenty of Isthmian and Southern League experience in his squad to call upon, as well as a potent strike force of Harvey Sayer, Adam Hipperson and their talisman, Jake Reed.
This will be our 13th competitive meeting with Lowestoft Town in all competitions. Whilst we recently met in pre-season, our last competitive clash was back in November of 2016 in the Isthmian League Premier, with the Gulls running out 3-0 winners at home thanks to goals from Mitch Gilbey, George Sykes and Martin Tuohy.
The Gulls
Canvey meanwhile, put a difficult few weeks behind them on Bank Holiday Monday, as they triumphed in the Canvey derby, beating local rivals Concord Rangers 3-1 at Thames Road.
Charlie Edwards, Mason Hall and Conor Hubble scored the decisive goals as they sealed their first Island derby win since 2012 in front of a good crowd of 903, many of whom were cheering the Gulls on to victory.
They'll now look to emulate the cup success Canvey have been so famed for in the past. Indeed, much of the current squad was present for our 2020 run, in which they reached the Second Round Proper of the competition.

Yellow Army, you were absolutely incredible 'away from home' on Monday, and your support made all the difference in helping the squad over the line.
Our last successful cup run had you absent for its peak due to the Covid pandemic restrictions, so let's band together again and hope the Gulls can go one step beyond in the competition - together this time!
See you all on Saturday!
Come on you Gulls!
